IOT-ENABLED SMART POULTRY ENVIRONMENT CONTROL AND SEASONAL DISEASE PREVENTION SYSTEM USING ESP32 AND RENEWABLE ENERGY INTEGRATION

Abstract

Effective environmental management in poultry farming is pivotal for ensuring bird health, productivity, and sustainability. Traditional systems, reliant on manual intervention, often fail to address dynamic environmental challenges efficiently, leading to stress due to heat, improper air quality, and seasonal disease outbreaks that compromise farm yields. This paper proposes an IoT-enabled smart poultry environment control and seasonal disease prevention system utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller to overcome these limitations. The design integrates precise sensors (DHT22, MQ135, MQ137) for monitoring temperature, humidity, and air quality, coupled with automated actuators (water pumps, PWM fans) to regulate conditions in real time. Powered by solar panels and a lithium-ion battery with a battery management system (BMS), the system achieves energy autonomy, reducing reliance on grid electricity. Real-time data is displayed on a 16x2 LCD and transmitted via push notifications for remote oversight, enabling farmers to respond promptly to environmental shifts. The system’s lightweight design and renewable energy integration make it both cost-effective and eco-friendly. Experimental results reveal a significant reduction in heat stress, improved air quality, and enhanced operational efficiency, demonstrating its practical efficacy. These outcomes position this solution as a scalable, sustainable advancement in poultry farming, with potential to transform small- and medium-scale operations globally.
